Alessandro, known to everyone as Ally, died suddenly, in the early hours of July 31st 2018 while on holiday in Italy. Found on his bedroom floor, he collapsed having got up in the middle of the night. Alessandro was just 17 years old.
Alessandro was an inspirational character, brimming with potential and personality. His achievements saw him granted an honorary scholarship at Haileybury College and he was on course for a place at a leading university to study for a business degree. He was appointed Deputy Head of his House and College Prefect. He had a wide range of sporting and extra-curricular interests.
More importantly, Alessandro was a wonderful human being. He was intelligent, kind, compassionate, perceptive and funny. He was charismatic and irrepressible, with an easy charm and a gift for bringing out the best in people. His death has been a huge shock; a hole has been left in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Alessandro was an only child.
Alessandro’s inquest concluded that the probable cause of death was Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). At no time did he display any symptoms of a heart condition. Alessandro's parents, family and friends support Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) a charity working tirelessly to prevent tragedies like his. In the year since his death, more than £50,000 has been raised for CRY in Alessandro's memory, much of it from a single event, using other platforms. There is more information about this elsewhere on this tribute site. Until the next memorial event for Ally, donations to CRY, using this platform, have been reset.
